Thomas Jefferson was the principal author of the Declaration of Independence.

On July 4, 1826, the 50th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, Jefferson died.

I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them.
